South Fork Natural History Museum offers a beach walk with biologist Dr. Keith Serafy at 6 PM along Gibson’s Beach. Dr. Serafy will talk about sand dune ecology and the special adaptations of the inhabitants, adaptations which allow them to survive the stressful dune environment, and how the beach profile changes seasonally.
He will also identify and discuss the plants and animals you find washed ashore as well as those living intertidally. If you have wondered about any beach treasures you’ve found washed ashore, this is your chance to ask an expert about them.
Advance reservations are required for all SoFo Museum events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, call 631-537-9735.
