The Suffolk County Historical Society will continue the Book & Bottle series with “Little Known Aspects of Long Island’s Maritime History” with Bill Bleyer on July 18 at 6 PM. Bleyer, a historian, will offer highlights from his latest book “Long Island and the Sea: A Maritime History,” which is the first complete maritime history of Long Island. Bleyer will talk about the development of submarines and torpedoes, the landing of Pan Am Clippers in Port Washington, and the world’s most innovative whaling captain, among other topics.
