The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Fork in Bridgehampton will screen the documentary film “13th” and host a film discussion on Sunday, August 11, at 2 PM.
The documentary explores how the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution abolished slavery, but justifies the use of forced labor as long as the laborer is a convict, and makes the case that the inclusion of this loophole is only one of the justifications for the continuing domination of people of color.
