Rogers Memorial Library Events

Reporter, writer, and senior editor for Newsweek David Alpern will be at the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton on Thursday, July 18, at 5:30 PM to talk about his life in news and entertainment. Alpern created and co-anchored the “Newsweek On Air” network radio show from 1982 to 2010, then took it independent as “For Your Ears Only.”

         The library will also show the movie “Green Book” on Monday, July 22, at 3 PM. Starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen, the film tells the story of Dr. Don Shirley a world-class African-American pianist and his driver Tony Lip, and the unexpected bond they develop while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation.

         Shelter Island Reporter columnist Bob DeStefano will host a trivia night, “Battle of the Brains,” on Monday, July 22, 5:30 PM at the library. The contest consists of 50 general knowledge questions answered by the entire team. Bring a team or come alone. Pizza and salad will be served.

         Certified Vinyasa Flow Instructor Becky Rosko will be at the library to talk about how yoga changed her life on Tuesday, July 23, at 6:30 PM. She will discuss how yoga can transform the lives of those who are open to the benefits of this ancient practice.

         The Friends of the Rogers Memorial Library will present The Feinberg Brothers in concert on Thursday, July 25, at 6 PM. They will present a program of bluegrass music. Seating is limited and reservations are strongly recommended.
