The South Fork Natural History Museum invites community members to “On the Beach With the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society: Sea Turtles and Marine Debris” for adults and children 8 and up. Join the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society for an interactive presentation on how to help sea turtles in New York, and learn how they are promoting conservation of the marine environment, including conservation of four local species of sea turtles. Learn about these threatened and endangered marine animals and the threats they face during their time in New York’s waters now through the fall and early winter. A guided beach cleanup will follow, where the group will walk the beach removing harmful marine debris, and learn how to monitor the beach and help any sick or injured sea turtles.
Advance reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, call 631-537-9735.
