The Village of East Hampton is gearing up for its second Spring Street fair in over 300 years. Visitors can expect over 50 booths lining Newtown Lane on Mother’s Day weekend, Saturday, May 12, from 10 AM to 5 PM.
In attendance will be local artists, shopkeepers, and more than 30 non-profits — including the Pollock-Krasner House, the East End Children’s Museum, Hamptons International Film Festival (selling rare movie posters), the East Hampton YMCA, East Hampton Historical Society, and East Hampton Trails Preservation Society.
“It’s a true community event to celebrate spring, as well as to showcase our wonderful businesses and organizations,” said East Hampton Chamber of Commerce President Steven Ringel. The chamber is sponsoring the fête.
A stage on Main Street will feature live music all day — from bluegrass to folk to rock n’ roll. Enjoy Lynn Blue Band and Back in Time, a Huey Lewis and the News tribute band. There’ll be plenty of activities for kids including a KIDZONE featuring a climbing wall, jumping castle, face painters, arts and crafts, and more. Golden Eagle Arts will be providing a free “Make a Mother’s Day Card” station on the lawn of Eileen Fisher on Newtown Lane.
No need to worry about parking, The Free Ride will provide shuttle service from John Marshall Elementary School parking lot. Looking for a workout? Yoga and stretch classes will be held on the lawn of Eileen Fisher.
New this year is a food court featuring lobster rolls, shrimp po’boys, BBQ from Townline BBQ, hand-made fried gourmet wantons, wood-fired pizza, homemade beef jerky from Greenport Jerky, homemade pickles from Perfect Pickle, handmade chocolates, baked goods, premade sandwiches and salads from Mary’s Marvelous, and handmade pretzels. Beverages will be handled by Sam’s
Beverages and village restaurants will also be offering craft beverages. Also expect specials from village eateries.
This year, visitors will also enjoy a sidewalk sale that includes shops on Newtown Lane and Main Street. Look for the Ladies’ Village Improvement Society, Guild Hall, and other businesses offering merchandise for sale.
