The Springs Fire Department, with mutual aid from the East Hampton and Amagansett fire departments, on November 25 battled a fire in an unoccupied house at 21 Old Stone Highway near the Springs General Store. There were no injuries, and the East Hampton Town Fire Marshal’s Office was on scene to investigate the fire’s origin. Independent/Michael Heller
The Suffolk County Historical Society Museum will be transformed into a children’s museum during “Kids Week” from April 24 through April 27.
The museum signage will temporarily be re-interpreted for school-age children, and touch-table educational play stations will be available for hands-on experiences. There will also be the “Historical Play Room,” where children can dress in colonial garb and play with old-world games, toys, and crafts. On Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, there will also be live music featuring historic songs of Long Island.
