Black History At Hallockville
Celebrate Black History Month at Hallockville Farm. Learn about the importance of quilting to the African American culture. Join artist and author Faith Ringgold on Thursday, February 20, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, while she takes you through the world of “Tar Beach,” and how she uses quilting to tell stories. Students ages nine to 12 years old will listen to the book and create their own collage quilts to tell their own story. Members: $15; non-members: $20.
Also at Hallockville, children five through eight years old can join art teacher Darlene Siracusano in learning about how folk art was made throughout history. The morning lesson will begin by listening to a farm animal story and meeting Hallockville chickens.
