Peconic Community School in Aquebogue hosted “Share,” its annual summer fundraiser on Sunday, August 12, in Naugles Barn at Hallockville Museum Farm in Jamesport. The theme was “building community through scholarship,” and honored North Forker Joe McKay.
The event not only aimed to honor McKay, but served as a fundraiser to support tuition scholarships for students.
McKay is a community activist who currently serves on the Peconic Land Trust’s President’s Advisory Council, the board and faculty of the Lifetime Learning Institute at Peconic Landing, and was a founding board member of the New Suffolk Waterfront Fund.
The evening offered a beautiful farm setting for live music, dancing, local farm fare by Lombardi’s, pizza from Rolling in Dough, local beer and wine, and a silent auction featuring unique East End experiences. All proceeds support students with financial need at Peconic Community School.
The school’s mission is to foster reflective, resilient, compassionate learners in a safe, caring, trusting environment that offers a place-based, project-focused model of education.
