Spring Kicks Off At The Garden Of Eve

Riverhead’s Garden of Eve Farm kicked off spring with its Baby Animal Weekend, during which hundreds of visitors dropped by to enjoy the warm sunny day on Saturday, April 21.

Families enjoyed tractor rides, playtime, and petting chickens, goats, and sheep.

Also located on the property are a greenhouse and a market selling made-to-order meals, organic produce, and other products.

The organic farm has a mission to operate as “sustainably as possible,” and grows approximately 70 varieties of vegetables, 20 types of herbs, and 30 flower varieties. The organic farm does not use poisonous pesticides or herbicides. Instead, owners Chris and Eve Kaplan-Walbrecht rely on plants’ natural defense systems and ecological solutions to solve pest problems.

The family-friendly farm has various events schedule throughout the summer, including:

“Herb and Vegetable Fest”
Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 from 10 AM at 6 PM and Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, from 10 AM to 6 PM

Celebrate the weekend with a free personal garden consultation. Enjoy a hayride tour of the farm as the owners explain their farming techniques and how they translate to your organic garden.

Sign up in advance online. Farm café food and more will be available.

“Growing and Eating Fruits and Berries”
