Update: ‘Suicidal Subject’ Police Were Looking for Found




Brendan Clavin was seen on surveillance footage outside of the Riverhead Library Tuesday morning.

Update, August 5, 3:57 p.m.: Brendan Clavin has been located and is unharmed, according to Suffolk County police.

Originally, August 4, 3:58 p.m.: Police are asking the public’s help in locating a suicidal man last seen in Riverhead Tuesday morning.

Brendan Clavin, a 31-year-old homeless man, sent several text messages to his father, making suicidal threats, on Tuesday at about 1 a.m. Police know his whereabouts at about 6:30 a.m., when he was captured on surveillance outside of the Riverhead Library.

He was observed wearing tan pants, black tee, light plaid shirt, white shoes, a multicolored bandana, a black backpack as pictured above. He may have suffered self-inflicted cuts on his wrists, according to police.

Suffolk County police sent out an alert on behalf of the Southampton Town Police Department late Tuesday afternoon.
