While Memorial Day observances were largely canceled due to COVID-19, some took place, just on a smaller scale. In East Hampton, the fire department and East Hampton Village Mayor Rick Lawler joined local veterans in honoring the fallen during an unofficial ceremony at the war memorial next to the Hook Mill on Monday. In Sag Harbor Village, members of the Chelberg & Battle Post 388 of the American Legion still marched, but no ceremony followed. An impromptu ceremony was held by veterans at Main Beach in East Hampton. Flags were placed in honor of veterans across the East End. Here are the images.
